Frequently asked questions
The word “Melligold” combines two words. “Mellifera” from Apis Mellifera, the Latin for honeybee, and “gold” being the color of honey. So, Melligold Creations loosely translates to “creations using gold of the honeybee.”
While many honey makers infuse their honeys with different flavors, we mix our spices and leave the product unfiltered (with the exception of our Vanilla Lavender. Whole lavender proved to be unpleasant for consumption). This allows for a fuller flavor and retainment of the nutrients.
The sediment you see are spices we use to craft the flavors. Stirring before use if this occurs is recommended.
Our products are lovingly made by hand. Tiny bubbles form during the mixing and pouring process. The bubbles settle at the top after pouring, which creates the layer of foam you may have in your jar. It’s harmless… and is actually a tasty treat for whoever gets to open the jar first!
Currently, no. However, the more you share your honey experience with others, the faster our community grows and the more demand we can meet with different sizing options!
We do not. Due to how the honey is prepared in the heating process, raw honey would lose some of its inherent nutritional benefits. Instead of using raw honey as a marketing ploy, we’d rather be ethical in our approach and not charge extra for benefits you’re not fully receiving.
We use 100% USDA Certified Organic Wildflower Honey. This type of honey tends to be the most neutral and allows us to exercise a wide range of creativity when crafting our recipes.
It is not recommended to refrigerate the honey.
Place your jar in hot water for 5-10 minutes and it should be restored to it’s original viscosity. Be careful not to burn yourself in the process!
